A specific gut compound tested directly in animals
In mice that had experienced a stroke, giving short-chain fatty acids directly in their drinking water measurably improved the restoration of motor function in the affected limb, a genuinely direct experiment rather than just an observed correlation. This hasn't yet been tested as a treatment in human stroke patients, so it's a promising lead rather than an established therapy.
